WELCOME TO ST. PATRICK'S (CAMPBELL RIVER) CWL'S NEW PRESIDENT!

Linda Kubinec is the newly installed President of St. Patrick’s (Campbell River) Council of the CWL.

She was born in Edmonton, AB in 1952; but lived until she was seven in Niton, AB.  With the death of her parents, she became an orphan and families in Peers and Edson to care of her until she was fortunate to be taken in by the Frith family.  Monica and Ronald treated her like their own children and even took in my other siblings.  They all moved to Campbell River when she was 15 years old.

Linda went to school, worked part-time in a hotel and enjoyed square dancing.  She felt adventurous after graduating and moved to Vancouver to work for a short time, then moving back to Campbell River and working at several jobs, including the Police station as a matron.

Her work at the Campbell River Recreation Department started in 1974, as the secretary, then as the Community Recreation Programmer.  Linda looks back on her 47 year career in the recreation field as a blessing, as most of the people attending were happy and smiling as they had fun.

Linda never had children of her own, but her step daughter Melissa me her feel like a mother and was an inspiration when planning programs for children through her childhood.  Now she is married and living in Dawson Creek.

She also enjoys volunteering as a preschool Sunday school instructor for the last 23 years with her husband Michael in a program they designed called I AM SPECIAL, plus she has written grants for community groups, and she and Michael decorate the church each year for Christmas.  Spring and summers are always dedicated to gardening and landscaping their yard.

February 14, 2020, Linda will retire and will looking forward actively participating in pickleball, fitness classes, the Crochet & Knitting program; while performing her duties as president of the Catholic Women’s League.
