Organization Communiqué 4 – 2019

Dear League Sisters and Fr. Alfredo,

“We are called upon not to be successful, but to be faithful”  Mother Teresa of Calcutta

As our president, Christa Grillmair, recently wrote in her January 25th Communiqué, we have a lot happening on our Rock within the next few months, most of which is still in the planning stages, but will be on us before we know it.

DIOCESAN CONVENTION – May 2 – 4, 2019, St. Patrick’s Parish, Campbell River

The convention team in Campbell River has been busy planning the logistics for our Diocesan Convention. I have planned for some very dynamic speakers with presentations and workshops that will excite, inspire and entertain you for the two day convention.

All Eucharistic Celebrations, Convention Business, Reports and the Pre & Post Conventions meetings will be held at St. Patrick’s Parish Centre, 34 South Alder Street, Campbell River, BC.  The exception will be the Thursday evening banquet, which will be held at the Coast Discovery Inn on Shoppers Row.

You will receive the Registration Package in the mail, which should be out by the end of this week.  Please note that there are several events happening in Campbell River at the same time as our Convention, we suggest you book your accommodations soon as possible. I have enclosed a tentative schedule for your information.

DIOCESAN CONVENTION BOOKLET

I have started work on the Convention Booklet, but I cannot do this without your help.  This is a great keepsake of the Diocesan Convention that will include the Agenda, Reports of activities from our Parish Council Presidents, Diocesan Executive and Committee chairs.    It will also include biographies of the speakers and presenters and other pertinent information.  Please keep your report to one page and follow the example that is enclosed. These reports are due, via email, to me by March 31, 2019.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE WRAP-UP

The fiscal year, which also constitutes the membership year, begins January 1.  Per capita fees are to be forwarded to national office as early in the new year as possible to ensure that finances are in place to continue the work of the League.  February 28this the deadline date for all memberships to be received at national office.

Recognition “To acknowledge and show appreciation” Recognition of members for their dedicated years of service should be celebrated annually.  It is a privilege to present members with appropriate “years of service” pin and it is an honour for the members who receive it.  Councils are encouraged to make the presentation of all League pins and awards a special occasion.  A ceremony for the Presentation of Service Awards is included in the Ceremonies Bookletand available from national office.  This ceremony encourages all members to continue their service “For God and Canada.” Also consider presenting other awards such as Membership Scrolls for those who have served the League for 25 years or more; Maple Leaf Service Pins and Certificate of Merit for members who have served the League in an exceptional or meritorious manner.
