Our CWL members and friends are proud of our “Freda Smith Bursary”. However, many people ask: who is Freda Smith” and why does this bursary honour her”?

The CWL membes of Ascension Parish in Parksville celebrated Father Thomas ‘s birthday at the Christmas membership tea, Friday, December 10th. They had a special cake and presented a basket of gift cards to him to show Father their appreciation of all he does for them and the parish.

Happy Birthday, Father Thomas.! Way to go women of the CWL!

Every afternoon CWL member Rosemary Fontenla sits in her “!Quiet place” and gets her knitting needles and rosary out. She follows the tv rosary while praying over the beautiful prayer shawls she creates with love and skill.

Many of us have heard of the “Term Blanket Ceremony” in respect to Aboriginal matters but, like myself, had no real idea on what this is about.

We do not normally post communiques here in happenings but this one by our Diocesan President Laurel Phyall is a clear exception. I urge you to take the time to go to diocesan communiques and read President’s Communique #3 for stuff you should know.
