President's Communique #3--January 26, 2023

Good morning Father Mike and ladies:

Hope everyone got through the cold winter weather and snow we just had and are all doing well.

Jan. 26th is the Feast Day of St. Paula, Roman Matron, the day she died in Bethlehem.

St. Paula was an exemplary figure among the Saints of the early centuries of Christianity,

From the dignity of her noble-and the luxurious life it afforded her-she came to pursuit of the Gospel and to charity toward the poor.

Because Conventions are so important, our Provincial President Catherine L'Heureux is saying that all parish councils in BC/Yukon should set up a Parish League Development Fund so that money is set aside and available to attend conventions.

The Photo Contest brought in 67 pictures. The winning certificates will be awarded at the Provincial Convention. Catherine thanks everyone who participated and sent in pictures.

I would like to remind everyone of the membership campaign out by National called

“the power of “ 1” (One). The aim of this campaigns to recruit, retain and regain members.

Please go to the National Website cwl.ca and read Vice President Betty Colaneri's Communique #3 for more information.

League Crest:  The League Crest can not be used without written permission from the National Office. You must allow enough time for the permission to be processed. For instance, if you create a poster and would like to us the League Crest on it, you must have permission to do so.

Diocesan Life Member Agnes Geiger has resigned as Life member Liaison. We thank Agnes so much for her time, knowledge, mentoring and support as our Liaison and we also thank her for coming on as President of Saint Peter's in Nanaimo. Margaret Beardon will be replacing Agnes. Thank you Margret for stepping into Life Member Liaison.

Annual Report Survey: The Annual Report Survey has arrived from National. Thank you to all the Presidents who got their reports in and on time. Thanks to Yvonne's good work and much time she took to format and complete a Late Submissions Report to accompany the National Annual Report, we we have the late submissions to.

The Executive have received both these reports and are being asked to complete and submit their Annual report to their Provincial Counterpart by February 15th.

The next report coming up will be for the Diocesan Convention Annual Reports Booklet.

Gerry Heywood Vice President /Organization will be sending out a email shortly with a template and information on due dates for that report. Presidents please be mindful that you report for the Convention Booklet may not be no more than one page in length. Other Executive members your report length will be no more than two pages in length. This will help Gerry when she puts the booklet together to go to the printers. Thanks so much.

We have all received the Comprehensive register now and I thank Yvonne for all her devotion and hard work getting everything up to date. Please remember to send Yvonne updates from time to time about any changes in positions, addresses,  phone numbers and emails.
