The Provincial Province of BC/Yukon held their Convention in beautiful “Sidney by the Sea” on Vancouver Island June 18 to 20, 2026. The event was sponsored by the Diocese of Victoria and hosted by Saanich Peninsula CWL Council (St. Elizabeth Parish).
Members came from as far North as White Horse, YT and from the east as far as Sparwood, B.C. Southern BC was well represented by Victoria councils and Sidney. We had 221 members and guests register for this event.
But that was not all! We feasted at a “Beach Party” and were piped in to the formal banquet. We learned about AI (Called to Lead: Women of Faith in the Age of Artificial Intelligence) in such a way that even non computer users could understand the concepts. We were updated on Catholic Social Justice issues and learned about the Poverty of Loneliness. This talk enhanced our understanding of our National moto “blessed are the poor”. Poverty is more than just the lack of money.
We had a sad moment as well. We said farewell to our Provincial Spiritual Advisor, Father John Garden, as he heads off to Rome. We will miss him very much. But. . . we also installed in his place Father David John. Welcome Father David.
We could go on and on talking about the great hospitality of the Knights of Columbus, Sidney, itself, the parties and the sheer joy of sisterhood, but I think it is better to show you. Please excuse the huge number of photos but we took so many so that we will remember this!
See you at next year’s Provincial Convention in Abbotsford, BC., hosted by the Diocese of Vancouver!
