ST. PATRICK'S (VICTORIA) CWL COUNCIL IS EXTRA NICE ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

ST. PATRICK'S (VICTORIA) CWL COUNCIL IS EXTRA NICE ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Here is a post that can't help but make you feel good this spring morning.

Lorrie, CWL Council President from St. Patrick's Church (Victoria) sent us the following note showing us what they did for St. Patrick's Day.

"Might not qualify as news but I thought I’d send on.

At St Patrick’s Parish in Victoria we still recognized St Patrick’s day by providing home made shamrock cookies ! These treats were for anyone who came in the office during opening hours.

Cookies baked by our Member Berny !

It may not be a big Irish Stew but they were delicious ."

Now, that HAS TO brighten your day!

ST. PATRICK'S VICTORIA CWL CELEBRATES 100th ANNIVERSARY OF OUR LEAGUE!

ST. PATRICK'S VICTORIA CWL CELEBRATES 100th ANNIVERSARY OF OUR LEAGUE!

On February 26, 2021, we members of St. Patrick’s (Victoria) CWL Council gathered for a few minutes to recognize our 100 years as a national organization. We were happy to be able to do this despite COVID-19!

Gathered are from Left to right: Isabel H, Audrey T and Nancy G (a 30 year member). Far to the back are Lorna ON, Lorrie VS, Susie N, Bruna P (a forty-nine year member), Eileen R (a fifty year member) and Silvana B.

The tree was planted behind Lorna behind her left shoulder. It is a Galaxy Magnolia tree. While you probably can’t see it now, you will when it blooms!!!

Thank you to Fr William for his blessing, to Steve McLeish of Arcadia Landscaping and to Ed Camilleri, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus for joining us.

FOUR GENERATIONS OF C.W.L. MEMBERS!

FOUR GENERATIONS OF C.W.L. MEMBERS!

When I first saw the opportunity to share a story of being a C.W.L. member, I thought I might share the story of my family’s four generations of CWL members.

My Grandmother, Alice Bundy, was a pioneer member of our C.W.L here in Campbell River. I am not exactly sure when my Grandma joined the League, but I would think it was in the late 1940’s/early 1950’s. Alice was an active member of St. Patrick’s and her C.W.L. She was proud to be involved in the growth and development of our parish during her lifetime.

HELEN MCLELLAN RECEIVES HER 70 YEAR PIN!

My Friends, I am delighted to present to you, Helen McLellan, an avid member of St. Patrick’s CWL Council from 1951 up to this day. Despite her advanced age, she was still able to attend our council’s monthly meetings up until two years ago.

She was married and raised 5 children and she is widely known for her tasty candied apples. She says it is an honour to be a member of such a lovely and wonderful group of ladies at St. Patrick’s CWL. We say that she is a real gem!

We, too, have been honoured by her presence and awarded her the CWL 70 year pin. This pin is a public  testament to her life long dedication to our League and church community.

We tried to make a video of this presentation but it didn’t turn out as well as we wanted since it was taken through a window in her care home. Fortunately, one of her care givers took this great picture of her on this, her special day.

Well done, Helen, good and faithful servant.
