The Love Parade--Early April

The Love Parade

We members of St. Edward’s CWL had a wonderful day at the beginning of April. The sky was blue, the sun was shining and the air was crisp and St. Edward’s parking lot was full of people, cars and balloons of many colours.

Blessed are the thoughtful. Our sister Mary Claire and her husband Phil Jennings asked me to send an email inviting CWL members to join a parade of like-minded members to drive past the homes of two of our sisters who were not well.

We had an amazing response. So, we gathered at St. Edward’s parking lot where Father Roger offered up a prayer for health and goodwill. Then all 25 cars headed out to the village of Croften to see our sister Linda. You can barely see her and her husband Bernie Musto in the picture but her message is very heartfelt. Most cars were carrying only one person because of self-isolation, but there were some couples. It was such a joy to be part of that parade.

After waiving good-bye, we moved on again and drove to Duncan to visit Terry Teasdale. She was smiling up a storm on her front porch. And since her birthday was only a few days away, we sang “Happy Birthday” to her.

This was the best day in a world of the unknown future. Francine Tournier
