Date: May 7, 2025 Vice President Communique
Dear Sisters in the League and Father Mike: As you know, this is my last communique as Vice President of the Victoria Diocesan Council. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the past two years. You have all been a mentor to me and have helped or reminded me of what I need to do. You have also shown great love and patience with me. I will need even more of this as I undertake my new duties.
Here is some great news! We are welcoming a new Vice President/President Elect! She is Marta Wright. You will find her personable, knowledgeable and hard working. She will do well with your help and support.
Also, welcome to our new executive team. They are a mix of new and experienced team members who are committed to our League and to you. What a great way to start the next two years of our council.
We have a busy year ahead of us. Of course, we have two League Development Days, a one day Annual Meeting of Members and a Provincial Convention to host. While this may seem to be a lot of work (yes, it is) I know we can do it together.
Please mark your calendars for our Fall League Development Day on Saturday, October 4th, here, in Victoria at St. Joseph the Worker Parish. We’re excited to see everyone.
In addition, the BC/Yukon Council is holding this year’s Convention on June 19-21, 2025, in beautiful Kelowna. We’re hoping to see a lot of you there.
Now, as a final thought, I want to refer to the National Council’s campaign “Be the One.” Yes, my diocesan Sisters, be the one to step up and help, to encourage and attend. While I very well know you already do this, carry on being “the One.”
Blessings on your day,
Gerry Heywood: President, CWL Diocese of Victoria
