President's Communique #8 May 13, 2025

Date: May 13, 2025                                                   Communique # 8

From:  Bertha Landrie Diocesan President

Greetings Father and Ladies,

I realize that I am no longer Victoria Diocesan President but I started this communique before the Diocesan Convention and due to preparing for the Convention just got back to it.

Thank you to the planning committee of  St. Edwards and St. Mary's Parishes for all the good executive to get to know each other better and start planning for this new term. Please mark the work that made the 97th Annual Victoria Diocesan Convention a great success.

I welcome our new Diocesan President Gerry Heywood and her executive team for the next two years. Thank you for all who have been installed in the new council. I look forward to working with all of  you as the Past President on the council.

President Gerry will be holding a Summer Planning Meeting during the summer for the new executive to get to know each other better and start planning for this new term. Please mark the date on your calendars when it is finalized.

Again I would like to encourage everyone to use the resourses on the cwl.ca website. A lot of thought and knowledge has gone into making these resourses available to us.

From National Vice President Betty Colarani :

May, Be a Mentor to “1”

Dedicate May to honouring Mothers—the first teachers of faith who guide members on their spiritual journey. These mothers may be a biological mother, godmothers, grandmothers, aunts or special women who have played a significant role in their lives. Honour them by following their example and passing the gift of faith and guidance by mentoring “1” other person.

June, That we may all be “1”

As Pilgrims of Hope, members are called to fellowship with “1” another. That they may all be one. As you Father, are in me and I am in you.  (John 17 21) Let us foster relationships and unity in faith.

Kindly share these catchphrases and encourage members to use them.

Check out the Catholic Girl's League which is a wonderful organization for girls 10-15 years old. The National Resource is #647. The CGL purpose is to produce tomorrow's leaders. Start one today.

Continue getting to know the 3 Core Values. It is important that the 3 Chairs work together to come up with a project for their councils.

Now it is time for me to begin my next roll as Past President. I thank God for the opportunity to have been your Diocesan President. I also want to thank my Diocesan Team for their love and support because none of us do these positions alone.
