St. Mary’s CWL recently celebrated their 85th Anniversary at their Spring Tea. There were several tables set up with archives and memorabilia for new and long-time members to peruse. They enjoyed a luncheon of fancy sandwiches, dessert dainties, and—of course—tea!

“I thought that all the preparations the Christa and others are doing are a bit like Jesus on the shore cooking breakfast and making sure everything is ready to greet the disciples as they get off the boat. Then I thought how the CWL members attending the convention were there to try to improve the society we live in.”

Over the years Canadian activist Mary Wagner has spent half a decade in jail. Driven by her passion to save lives and to change minds and hearts, Mary walks into abortion clinics and calmly tries to influence patients to make the choice for life.

On April 25, 2019, St. Patrick’s Council in Campbell River celebrated two long-serving women of the CWL during their Our Lady of Good Counsel Dinner.

The Newcomer Committee of Ascension Parish bade farewell to Toma, Sahar and three-year-old Angel on Easter Sunday at a brunch at Qualicum Beach Inn.

In the 5th century, during the reign of Pope Sixtus III, the town of Genazzano, about 30 miles (48 km) south of Rome, had contributed a large portion of its revenue for the Roman basilica now known as Santa Maria Maggiore. In appreciation, a church, called Santa Maria, was built in Genazzano and was later entrusted to the Augustinian Orderin 1356.  Numerous cures were said to have taken place there. The Augustinian friars were invited to minister to the spiritual needs of the pilgrims. They continue to serve there to this day.
