Greetings Father and Ladies,
A person's most useful asset is not a head full of knowledge, but a heart full of love, an ear ready to listen, and a heart willing to help others.
I hope you all had a relaxing and restful summer and are ready for Service, Faith and Social Justice.
Some of your councils will be doing membership drives to invite current members back and also encourage new members to join your council. Remember to use the Welcome Kit available on the CWL website, cwl.ca under resources.
At the National Convention in Saskatoon, the National Development Fund was talked about and we were told this valuable resource is not being used to its full potential and there is money available even at the Parish Councils level. This Fund is for Learning through workshops etc. It is available for financial assistance to help put on workshops for our members.
Please find the enclosure of the National Development Fund Package. Also enclosed is a fillable form.
The Diocesan Policy and Procedure Manual will be due for an upgrade after the Diocesan Convention in May. It is not too early to read through the current one and see if there is anything you think should be updated or included that is not there.
A gentle reminder that our Diocesan Executive is still in need of a Social Justice Chairperson.
Because there is only 8 months left before elections for the new term, this would mean the person joining the executive now would only be taking the position for the next 8 months before their term would end. This might be a good way for someone who has thought about Social Justice to try on the position for a short time.
If they find they would like to let their name stand for the next
term they can do that, or if they feel for what ever reason the position is not for them after trying it. They can choose to not let their name stand for the next term.
Please pray about it and you may feel this could be a way that God is inviting you to help our Diocese.
Reminder that we will be having a Diocesan Team Meeting for the executive and Parish Presidents on zoom on Monday September 9th at 2:30. I look forward to having all who are able to
attend there.
Provincial President Catherine L'Heureux has announced a new contest for BC and Yukon members. Details will come soon.
Dates to Remember:
Sept. 9, Diocesan Team Meeting on zoom 2:30
Oct. 5, League Development Day at Holy Trinity Parish Nanaimo
May 1 (President's meeting) 2nd and 3rd at Saint Edwards Parish in Duncan with along with people from St. Mary’s Ladysmith council.
Thank you to Father Mike and to all our members who are so important to me and the VictoriaDiocesan Council. Wishing you all peace, love and good health.
Blessings,
Bertha Landrie: Victoria Diocesan President
