ORGANIZATION COMMUNIQUE #12
Date: November 17, 2020
From: Laurel Phyall, Diocesan President Elect/Organization Chair
Dear Sisters of the League and Father Alfredo,
2020 National Annual Report Surveys: While we all know that 2020 has been a uniquely challenging year, it is important to record it for posterity.
It is not too late to join Executive Director, Kim Scammell, as she gives an informative, how-to webinar on “How to Complete an Annual Report Survey.” You can register online at www.cwl.ca for the Tuesday, November 24th, 11:00 am – 12:00 noon (PST) session.
The paper submissions are due December 15, 2020 to allow time for the information to be inputted in the system by the National Office. The paper version of the surveys are available on the national website www.cwl.ca under “To Organize/1000 Series.” (These surveys are printable only, not fill able.) The electronic submissions are due January 15, 2021. Be sure to follow the instructions to print and save. Review the report and only once you are totally happy with it, press submit. Once submitted, it cannot be accessed, printed or changed.
Diocesan Officers – I suggest you take time to review the annual survey for your position, by looking at the paper survey available in the above Series. Then, you will be ready for any queries your parish counterparts may have. Your diocesan reports will be due to your provincial counterpart on February 15, 2021 and you can expect to receive your summaries by position from me around January 21, 2021.
AGM Booklet (Convention Book)
The pandemic has led to the decision by National to change “convention” to “AGM’s” with voting and accredited delegates attending by invitation only for 2021. It is important for historical purposes to produce a booklet of annual reports reflecting the year 2020.
Presidents/Diocesan Officers - As you prepare your annual report survey, think about and write your reports for the booklet. I will send out guideline in the new year, but mark your calendars for March 12, 2021 which is the deadline for all AGM booklet reports.
2021 Membership – Recruit new members and affirm existing members:
Check with your parish priest and see if there is a possibility to show the Welcome Program promo video in your parish. At the end of mass? Have you ordered copies of the Welcome Brochure – these can be found at www.cwl.ca/To Organize/Resources/300 Promotional Material/308.
The Companionship Program (page 16 of the Welcome Program) is ideally suited to this present time when our activities and gatherings are being restricted. Centering our activities on (a) mentors and their companions and (b) small groups focusing on our core values of faith, service and social justice seems designed for these challenging days.
Remember to get your membership into National Office as soon as possible. To quote from National Secretary-Treasurer, Janet McLean “the League’s financial stability is directly affected by the number of its members, so early membership renewal and remittance for 2021 is essential.” Per capita fees are due to the National Office by February 28, 2021 or sooner.
National Office and Covid-19 Closure:
National office advises us that the office will be closed from November 12 – December 11, 2020 to comply with orders from the Province of Manitoba. Compliance prohibits staff from working at the office. All mail has been redirected and will be received. Orders will continue to be processed; however, members are advised to expect delays in delivery. Paper products continue to be available for members access and download at www.cwl.ca under the “To Organize” tab.
Staff is available to process membership, facilitate communication and direct inquiries. They will work remotely and may be contacted directly. General inquiries may be sent to info@cwl.ca. Though e-mail remains the best contact method, the main telephone line, (204) 927-2310, has been redirected and calls will be answered.
There are lot of due dates and information in this communiqué, which is a lot to take in. Please feel free to contact me for assistance at any time. I would be pleased to talk with you and answer your questions.
As I am not anticipating another communiqué before the end of the year, I wish to take this opportunity to wish you and you families a very blessed and joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May the gift of His love be your gift this Christmas.
In the words of Dr. Bonnie Henry: Be Calm Be Kind Be Safe. Until then may Our Lady of Good Counsel hold you in her loving care,
