ORGANIZATION COMMUNIQUE #13

                                                VICTORIA DIOCESAN COUNCIL

            Date: February 10, 2021                                        Organization Communiqué #13

From:  Laurel Phyall, Diocesan President Elect/Organization Chair

Dear Sisters of the League and Father Alfredo,

2020 National Annual Report Surveys: Thank you to everyone who did the reporting and got back to me with the information I requested.

The Gift of the Sabbath, The Gift of Rest: This is the title of National President-Elect and Chairperson of Organization, Fran Lucas’ submission to The Canadian League magazine, page 7, Winter 2021 edition. Fran writes about busyness, life balance and rest. She makes several suggestions for refreshing ourselves and avoiding burn out. Her favourite book, which she recommends, The Art of Life: Monastic Wisdom for Every Day by Joan Chittister is available on Amazon for as low as $13.54 plus shipping; it is also available at Coles, Indigo & Chapters.

From our Diocesan President Christa Grillmair: Over the past few months there have been a number of vignettes and testimonials posted to the National website.  Just go to https://cwl.ca/to-inspire/

If you scroll down the page, you also see a poster.  May we suggest that you print it and once our churches are open, post it on your bulletin board, or share it in a newsletter.  You might also want to ask your parish secretary to attach it to any parish bulletin that is being emailed or posted in your parish.

League Development Day 2021:  We have been invited to participate in a two-day session organized by the Ottawa Diocese on February 13 & 27.  The facilitator, Leslie Giddings, comes highly recommended by the Ottawa Diocesan CWL. The timing may not be perfect – it starts at 7:00 am PST, but we wanted you to have the opportunity to consider it.  If you would like to participate, please register by contacting tinamckay.cwl@gmail.com.  I have attached the poster and the agenda to this email.

2021 Membership – St. Teresa of Avila said, “Know that even when you are in the kitchen, our Lord moves amidst the pots and pans”.

What are your pots and pans for Organization? What will you be preparing? Are you a calm Jamie Oliver or a spirited Gordon Ramsay? What kind of chef are you?

Here is an excellent recipe to serve your council:

  • Start with the Welcome Package with colourful & innovative ideas

  • Add several flavourful videos To Inspire

  • Mix in a variety of new members

  • Follow up on lapsed members

  • Blend in an orientation package

Spread all these ingredients evenly throughout your parish and

Allow time for all to set like the stained glass jello dessert.

Whip up your dues and send them to National by February 28, 2021 or sooner.

God, our Father is always with us to guide our hands in preparing the best meal possible.  With God’s grace make your recipe delicious and enticing, so that, your next Organization chef is waiting in the kitchen of the CWL.

In a time when we are staying at home, social distancing and wearing masks:

Laugh with your eyes,

Hug with your soul,

And smile with your heart.

May our Lady of Good Counsel hold you in her loving care,

Laurel

Thank you to Sherray Duran, Vancouver Archdiocese for the membership recipe.
